Most people who need inpatient hospital services are admitted to an “acute care” hospital for a relatively short amount of time. But patients with medically complex conditions may be referred to a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) — which is also certified as an acute hospital — for continued care beyond their original hospital stay.
These patients are transferred from an acute hospital’s intensive or critical care units to long-term acute care hospitals like Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital. Here, they can receive additional long-term acute care or critical care services. LTACHs specialize in treating patients who may have more than one serious condition, but who may improve with time and care and return home.
At Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital, we provide long-term acute care services to patients who are recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Often these individuals require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation and ventilator weaning.
Patients are our priority.
