What makes us different from other rehabilitation providers?

Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital is a unique facility in that we are able to provide inpatient rehab therapy and lifesaving critical care support in the same hospital. Following trauma or severe illness, it is possible for patients to receive both levels of care in one location from highly trained staff who are committed to recovery.

At Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital, our 17-bed unit provides outpatient rehabilitation to people recovering from disabling diseases and injuries, such as those recovering from:

• orthopedic injuries
• strokes
• brain injuries
• spinal cord injuries

In addition, we treat individuals who may have chronic illnesses such as:

• cerebral palsy
• ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
• multiple sclerosis
• Parkinson’s disease

We also treat individuals with:

• Amputations
• Arthritic Conditions
• Burns
• Cancer
• Congenital Deformities
• Dysphagia

How we provide care
Our medical professionals work as a team with our patients and their family members to create individualized treatment plans so our patients can progress at their own ability levels. Our rehabilitation team includes specially trained physicians, nurses, case managers, and occupational, speech and physical therapists – among other medical professionals. It is led by our full-time medical director.

Our healthcare team provides our patients with 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care and daily physician management. Our patients have access to private patient rooms and well-equipped therapy areas. Our therapy area includes a therapy gym with private treatment rooms.

We also offer treatment in our multiple day rooms, which include a daily living suite and a transitional suite. These areas allow patients to practice normal, daily, at-home activities while still under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Some of these activities may include getting in and out of bed, showering, cooking, or doing laundry. In addition, we offer home evaluations to identify any necessary modifications that may need to be made to a patient’s home before leaving the hospital. This helps ensure a safer return to home.
